The UCU higher education committee has announced a plan of strike action proportionate to the need to stop the terrible attacks planned on our old age.

If talks fail, UCU members in 61 universities including ours will start incremental strike action from around 22 February. The strikes will be:

First week: 2 days
Second week: 3 days
Third week: 4 days
fourth week: 5 days

A total of 14 days strike action.

Members to be asked to work to contract, to refuse to cover classes or reschedule those lost to strike action.

This is a programme of strike action across the country the likes of which no UK trade union, to our recollection, has mounted in recent years.
