Vice President hustings at Leeds
Elections are coming up soon for UCU Vice President (VP), and other national positions, see details here. The voting period is 1 February – 1 March. The Vice President post is particularly important as the elected candidate will go on to be President of our union in 2021-22.
There are three candidates for the Vice President position and Leeds UCU has invited them all to a ‘hustings’ where you can hear them speak and ask them questions. It’s on Tuesday 12th February from 12 noon – 1 pm. There will be delicious rosemary and salt focaccia from Leeds Bread Coop available, plus fruit, and/or feel free to bring your own lunch.
The candidates (with links to their websites) are:
- Vicky Blake (currently President of Leeds UCU)
 - Jo McNeill (currently President of Liverpool UCU)
 - Adam Ozanne (currently Secretary of Manchester UCU)

Vicky Blake and Jo McNeill have confirmed their attendance. Unfortunately Adam Ozanne is unable to attend, but will be providing literature.
The venue is Michael Sadler building LG19 (flat ground floor room, see room details including accessibility details)
Please sign up on our EventBrite page (for free, obviously!) so we know how many to expect – thanks.
All members welcome! Feel free to invite friends from other branches.
You’ll receive a ballot paper in the post from the Electoral Reform Society, and voting is by Single Transferable Vote, so you can give a first and second preference. The ballot mailing will include printed election addresses from the candidates, which should help you make up your mind who to vote for, but hearing them speak in person and being able to ask them questions is much better!
Hope to see you there.
