Strike – 11, 12, 13 October
The national union has approved the request of local members for a three-day strike.
UCU has approved the request from University of Leeds members agreed at the emergency general meeting two weeks ago. The union has now formally notified the senior management that all UCU members at the university will be on strike on 11, 12 and 13 of October.
This is a serious escalation in the ongoing dispute. It shows staff are not prepared to let senior management weaken their protections at work for no reasons that they can justify. Senior managers don’t need more freedom to sack staff.
UCU negotiators want senior management to withdraw the amended statutes from the privy council and get back around the negotiating table and try harder to come to an agreement.
How to help
Talk to colleagues about the issues, and about joining the union if they’re not already members, and volunteer for the picketing rota (we’ll email members shortly about this).
Put up a poster or send a postcard to the vice-chancellor
Slide for use in lectures (PPT)
More information
Come to one of our members meetings across the campus week commencing 2 October.
