Policy decision: Financial support for members taking industrial action
This motion was agreed by the branch at a general meeting 25 November 2021
This branch notes:
- The excellent turnout from Leeds members in the ballots on the USS and Four Fights disputes
- That members supported strike action and action short of a strike (ASOS) in these disputes
- That we will be taking strike action soon followed by ASOS
- That we have a branch Hardship Fund to support members who experience financial difficulty from strike deductions, the rules for which are at https://www.leedsucu.org.uk/local-hardship-fund/
This branch agrees:
- To build up our Hardship Fund to ensure we are ready for sustained industrial action by
- encouraging members who can afford it to donate to our Hardship Fund
- actively seeking donations from supportive organisations
- To organise quick access to the Fund for when it is needed
Proposed by Ben Plumpton. Moved by Ben Plumpton, seconded by Lata Narayanaswamy. Motion carried.
